Two mental health bills introduced in the Senate

Before the Senate adjourned for the August recess, it introduced two major new mental health bills. The Mental Health and Safe Communities Act helps prevent unnecessary incarceration of people with mental illness and enhanced treatment and services for individuals with mental illness while incarcerated and following release. The second major bill, the Mental Health Reform Act Of 2015, aims to comprehensively overhaul and strengthen America's mental health system.
